The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary offers free "VESSEL SAFETY CHECKS" to the public.  The program is designed to assist the boating public with meeting the federal and state safety requirements.  The Auxiliarists who perform these checks are specially trained in the latest legal requirements for boaters.  The qualified Vessel Examiner will check for the required safety items aboard your boat.  If the Examiner finds all the required items and they are in good working order he will issue a decal to affix to your boat. (see above)

To see the an explanation of required safety items, check the following link:

Also, information about safety requirements, title transfers, and registration for boats in the State of Texas are available on the following link:

If for any reason the boat does not pass the safety check your inspector will be happy to reschedule an inspection when the problem is fixed.

Many boat insurance companies offer discounts to individuals whose boats pass this safety check.,

While no guarantee is made, many law enforcement agencies and the U.S. Coast Guard will often pass up a boat with a current decal when conducting routine boardings.

The Auxiliary Vessel Examiners will be happy to assist you in selecting the proper safety equipment to meet all local, state and federal requirements.  Feel free to contact us for assistance or information by clicking on the email address below.
